Our Story.
Born from love, loss, and an unshakeable belief that dance belongs to everyone — this is Destined to Dance.Growing up, we realized there weren’t many spaces where dancers from all backgrounds felt represented, welcomed, and celebrated. We knew our community needed a place where people could show up exactly as they are, feel safe expressing themselves, and rediscover the joy in dance. Destined to Dance was created to build that space — one rooted in inclusivity, passion, and the belief that dance should always feel like home.
Our Purpose
Defining Purpose
"Success is filled with many choreographed steps in life... And we use dance as a definite way of expressing hope, healing, and happiness in the course of success."
Destined to Dance's mission is to provide professional dance instruction and inspire an eternal love for dance and artistic expression. These goals are obtained through innovative choreography, skilled instructors, and "healthy habits" for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

About the Owner
Meet Mrs. Destani
Destani began dancing at the age of three and quickly developed a deep passion for the art. Throughout her school years, she trained in local dance studios and programs, continuously refining her technique and performance skills. In high school, she became one of the top dancers in her class, earned a Dance Scholarship during her senior year, and proudly served as Cheer Captain for two years. After graduating, her passion for dance only continued to grow. Destani went on to earn her Associate’s Degree in Dance from Cypress College, where she was selected to choreograph a piece for the college’s annual dance concert, People in Motion. She later earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business, combining her love for dance with the vision and leadership needed to build a lasting impact in her community. In December 2015, Destani was blessed with the opportunity to perform as a backup dancer for hip hop legend Rob Base, traveling and performing in multiple cities and arenas throughout California. Driven by both passion and purpose, Destani created a space where dancers of all backgrounds can feel welcomed, inspired, and empowered through movement. Her heart for people and love for dance continue to shape the foundation of Destined to Dance today.
After high school, her passion for dance sparked more than ever. She went on to earn an AA degree in Dance from Cypress College, where she was chosen to choreograph a piece in the annual dance concert People in Motion.
In December 2015, Destani was blessed with the opportunity to perform as a backup dancer with Hip Hop Legend Rob Base — together they performed in multiple cities and arenas throughout California.
In Summer 2016, she attended the Dance Teacher Summit, taking lessons from world-renowned choreographers and bringing every new inspiration back to her students. A caring heart with a passion for dancing — that's our founder.
The Inspiration Behind D2D
In Memory of
Janawyentha Shippings
Destani was named by her late grandmother, Janawyentha Shippings — one of her biggest supporters who constantly encouraged her to be great. Always in the audience, her grandmother would smile and cheer from the front row of every show.
In 2011, she lost her life to Congestive Heart Failure. Although she is no longer with us, D2D was created in her memory. Our logo and name are symbolic of what she stood for: love, purpose, and endless possibilities.

Giving Back
Programs & Scholarships
We are committed to keeping dance accessible to every family — no matter their circumstances.

Hero Scholarship
Created in loving memory of Jocelyn Saldivar, who joined our D2D family in 2021 alongside her sister Julissa. Despite battling a brain tumor with incredible courage and joy, Jocelyn filled our studio with laughter and light. This scholarship supports future students with tuition costs and medical expenses, carrying her legacy of strength and determination forward.

Pointe Scholarship
Awarded to dancers who demonstrate exceptional dedication and artistry. Our most recent recipient, Julia, has been a devoted member of D2D since the very beginning — showing remarkable growth season after season. Her commitment and grace in Ballet led our staff to honor her with this scholarship, and she has exceeded every expectation since.

Costume Program
We are committed to keeping dance accessible to every family. Through the generosity of our community, every donation goes directly back into the studio to purchase costumes and accessories for our dancers. We have already provided hundreds of costumes — ensuring no dancer misses the chance to shine on stage.
